Adam Sandler returns to the golf course as the official trailer for “Happy Gilmore 2” has been released, leading up to its streaming debut on Netflix this July 25. Though Netflix’s synopsis keeps the plot under wraps with only the tease “Happy Gilmore is back!”, the trailer hints at Sandler’s character wrestling with the idea of challenging a few PGA stars. Nevertheless, Happy strides onto the greens with bold assurance, unleashing a series of comedic chaos.

The sequel sees Sandler reunite with fan-favorites Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, and Ben Stiller. New faces joining the cast include Bad Bunny, NFL standout Travis Kelce, and Sandler’s own daughters, Sadie and Sunny. The film also features cameo shots from professional golf icons like John Daly, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Bryson DeChambeau, among others.

Sandler had hinted at the sequel’s development during his appearance on “The Tonight Show” last year, expressing their determination not to disappoint: “We really worked hard on the script. People have been asking for a long time. We’re pumped about it,” he said. “So many of the golfers have been great sports about joining in.”

Travis Kelce, who has been making waves acting in Ryan Murphy’s FX series “Grotesquerie” and the soon-to-be-released Lionsgate action-comedy “Loose Cannons,” eagerly expressed his desire to be involved in “Happy Gilmore 2” on his podcast last May. In response, Sandler confirmed, “Travis talked about it, and we have something nice lined up for him,” though Kelce does not appear in the latest trailer. “He’s an incredible guy – charming, funny, and incredibly cool. He’s the full package and a natural comic talent.”

The film is directed by Kyle Newacheck, known for his work with Sandler and Jennifer Aniston on Netflix’s “Murder Mystery.” Sandler co-writes the script with Tim Herlihy from the original “Happy Gilmore,” while Dennis Dugan, the original director, steps in as executive producer.
