Alan Cumming will take the stage as host for the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards, sponsored by P&O Cruises, on Sunday, May 11th at London’s Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. Known for his multifaceted career in the arts, Cumming has made a significant mark in television, film, and theater. His Tony and Olivier Award-winning portrayal in “Cabaret” and his standout role in “The Good Wife”—which earned him a Golden Globe for best supporting actor and an Emmy as an executive producer—highlight his diverse talents. Cumming’s recent stint as host of “The Traitors U.S.” has charmed viewers globally, winning him two Emmys and two Critics Choice Awards simultaneously.
British audiences can catch the BAFTA TV Awards ceremony live on BBC One and iPlayer, with BritBox broadcasting to the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the Nordics. Additionally, the show will be accessible on Foxtel for Australian viewers and broadcast across 24 countries throughout Africa and the Middle East via AlThaqafeya and MBC Channels, as well as through Rewind Networks in 13 Asian countries. Nominations for the TV BAFTAs are set to be announced this Thursday. This marks the third consecutive year that P&O Cruises has sponsored the BAFTA Television Awards. Last year’s ceremony saw “Top Boy” and “Happy Valley” each taking home two major accolades, with an average of 2.7 million viewers tuning in via BBC One and iPlayer.
Emma Baehr, BAFTA’s executive director of awards and content, expressed her excitement over Cumming hosting this year’s event, stating, “Alan Cumming is bound to bring a spirited sense of fun and mischief to the ceremony, so audiences should prepare for a suitably unpredictable show during Britain’s grandest TV event.” Baehr added, “The vast talent and innovation in British television, both in front of and behind the camera, are truly unparalleled. We are eager to honor and celebrate these gifted individuals at our forthcoming awards gatherings.”
