MEXICO CITY – América has advanced to the semifinals, just four matches away from claiming a fourth consecutive championship title after defeating Pachuca 2-0, which struggled to compete in the series.

From the outset, América exhibited a greater thirst to win and, as usual, took the initiative against Pachuca, who initially appeared well-positioned.

However, Pachuca could only withstand América’s pressure for 15 minutes. Alejandro Zendejas seized an opportunity inside the box to strike a well-placed shot and break the deadlock.

Guillermo Almada’s exasperated shouts and expressions of disapproval began as he chastised his players one by one.

Unfortunately, Almada’s scolding fell on deaf ears, and by the 28th minute, Zendejas once again found the back of the net, capitalizing on a precise cross from Kevin Álvarez.

This goal effectively sealed the series, particularly as Pachuca was reduced to 10 men following the expulsion of Oussama Idrissi, leaving them needing to score three goals.

In the second half, Pachuca made adjustments and managed to balance the game, not showing signs of being a man down, though they never truly threatened.

In fact, América continued creating dangerous opportunities, though they failed to score due to poor finishing, defensive interventions, or sometimes overconfident play.

Even so, time was América’s greatest ally. As they edged closer to the semifinals, the frustration within the Tuzos camp grew, culminating in their dwindling display of football skills.
