(Reuters) - American Airlines (AAL) announced on Tuesday that it anticipates a larger loss for the first quarter than previously expected. This comes amid worries that issues like tariff pressures and uncertain government spending could negatively impact travel demand.
The airline has revised its forecast for adjusted loss per share, predicting it will range between approximately 60 cents to 80 cents. This is an adjustment from their earlier forecast which anticipated a loss of around 20 cents to 40 cents per share.
Following this announcement, shares in the US airline dropped by 4% in premarket trading, reflecting investor concerns.
