A fire at the Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg early Sunday morning is under investigation as a suspected arson, state police have announced.

Governor Josh Shapiro and his family, who were in a separate part of the mansion at the time, thankfully managed to escape without harm, according to the news release. They were unharmed by the incident.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire at around 2 a.m., responding promptly to the call at the North Front Street residence.

“While firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze, significant damage was inflicted on part of the residence,” shared the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Tips Facebook page.

State Police have already determined the blaze was deliberately set. The investigation remains ongoing, involving multiple agencies.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Information can be shared by calling 1-800-4PA TIPS (1-800-472-8477).
