High Winds and Power Concerns for Saturday

Friday offered beautiful weather, with temperatures soaring into the 60s and 70s. However, the calm didn’t last as storms swept in around midnight, marking the transition into Saturday. These storms brought a flurry of rain and strong winds, departing by 2 a.m. By 2:30 a.m., all storm watches and warnings had wrapped up. Yet, by 2:35 a.m. Saturday, significant power outages were reported, with Jefferson and Waukesha counties particularly affected. In Kenosha, Walworth, and Washington counties, power failures impacted over 1,000 households each. The rest of Saturday promises dry, albeit very windy conditions.

For those planning to attend the St. Patrick’s Day parades in Milwaukee, prepare for strong winds. A high wind warning is active for Kenosha, Milwaukee, Racine, Walworth, and Waukesha counties from 7 a.m. until noon, with gusts potentially reaching 60 mph. Additional power outages could occur. A wind advisory spans the entirety of Southeast Wisconsin from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., warning of gusts up to 50 mph. Although high temperatures are expected to reach near 60 degrees, the intense wind will make conditions feel much cooler.
