A thrilling new trailer has just been unveiled for Danny Boyle’s highly anticipated zombie-horror film, “28 Years Later.” The second trailer, released by Columbia Pictures, once again immerses viewers in a post-apocalyptic United Kingdom overrun by the infected undead. In this latest installment, writer Alex Garland collaborates with the Oscar-winning Boyle to kick off two sequels. The official narrative unfolds: “Nearly thirty years have passed since the deadly rage virus escaped from a biological weapons facility, leading to a fierce quarantine. Amidst the chaos, a few have managed to find ways to live among the infected. One group survives on a small island, connected to the mainland by a heavily fortified causeway. When one member bravely ventures into the darkened mainland, they uncover hidden truths, wonders, and terrifying changes that have altered not only the infected but other survivors, too.”

Featuring a talented cast, including Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, and Ralph Fiennes, “28 Years Later” promises an exhilarating visual feast. At last month’s CinemaCon, Boyle expressed his passion for crafting British-style apocalyptic stories, stating, “I still have a love for the apocalypse, the thrill of the infected, and the joy of blowing things up.” He hinted that audiences would need to exercise patience to see the return of “28 Days Later” original star Cillian Murphy in this new trilogy. “As with all things worthwhile, it might take a while for him to make his grand entrance,” Boyle explained. Murphy, an Oscar winner for his role in “Oppenheimer,” is also executive producing these continuation films. Additionally, attending the event was Nia DaCosta, who directed the upcoming second film, “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.” She commented, “While exploring its ties to ‘28 Days Later,’ ‘The Bone Temple’ script takes a distinctly different approach,” adding, “I was given the freedom to unleash my creativity.” Mark your calendars, as “28 Years Later” is set to hit theaters on June 20.
