“American Idol” has narrowed down its contestants to an exciting top five.

On Sunday night, millions of fans cast their votes to decide which singers would make it through, ultimately sending two more contestants home.

Here’s a rundown of the latest episode’s highlights.

This week, “American Idol” took its show to Disneyland, where both Sunday’s and Monday’s episodes embraced the magic of Disney. Superstar songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creative genius behind “Hamilton” and composer for numerous Disney projects like “Moana,” “Encanto,” and “Mufasa: The Lion King,” joined the show to mentor contestants.

Miranda provided invaluable guidance as the singers prepared to perform beloved Disney classics. Each of the top seven also dedicated a song to Mother’s Day.

“Working with Lin as a mentor during this round was truly special,” top seven contestant Thunderstorm Artis shared with the Deseret News. “When performing iconic Disney songs, it’s important to preserve the essence while introducing personal touches. Lin helped me maintain my authenticity while respecting the original material.”

Performances from the top seven included:

  • Breanna Nix - “Reflection” from “Mulan” and Lauren Alaina’s “Like My Mother Does.”
  • Gabby Samone - “How Far I’ll Go” from “Moana” and “Home” from “The Wiz.”
  • Jamal Roberts - “Go the Distance” from “Hercules” and Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come.”
  • John Foster - “Almost There” from “The Princess and the Frog” and Brooks and Dunn’s “Believe.”
  • Mattie Pruitt - “Remember Me” from “Coco” and Lauren Alaina’s “Those Kind of Women.”
  • Slater Nalley - “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from “The Lion King” and Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.”
  • Thunderstorm Artis - “Colors of the Wind” from “Pocahontas” and “Out of the Blue” by Thunderstorm Artis.

At the conclusion of the two-hour broadcast, host Ryan Seacrest announced the top five chosen by viewer votes.

The journey continues as the Disney theme rolls on Monday night.

During this next live episode, the top five will perform two songs each from the Disneyland Resort, vying for the chance to compete in the finale. This episode will also feature a special appearance from Miranda and a performance by “Idol” Season 21 winner Iam Tongi, who will sing “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” featured in the latest “Lilo & Stitch” film.

“I can’t wait to see his performance on the show; it’s going to be incredible,” Artis shared with the Deseret News, speaking warmly of Tongi. “He’s such a grounded person, not letting fame get to his head. I really admire that.”

The “American Idol” Season 23 finale is set for Sunday, May 18 at 6 p.m. MDT.
