Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Angie Stone tragically lost her life in a crash on Interstate 65 in Montgomery County early Saturday morning, as confirmed by her manager Deborah Champagne to WSFA 12 News. The celebrated artist was 63 years old. According to Champagne, Stone had just finished a performance and was on her way to the CIAA basketball tournament in Baltimore when the accident occurred.
The Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association mentioned that her final performance took place at the 2025 Grand Marshal’s Ball in Mobile. Due to the crash, Interstate 65 experienced significant delays, being partially closed in Montgomery County for several hours. The accident involved a commercial vehicle, and according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, it happened shortly before 7 a.m., approximately two miles south of Hope Hull. The collision resulted in the closure of the left northbound and southbound lanes.
By 11 a.m., ALEA Troopers had reopened all lanes and cleared the scene. Currently, additional details are not available, as ALEA Troopers are actively investigating the incident. “}
