Grimes recently expressed her disapproval after her four-year-old son with Elon Musk, X Æ A-Xii, known affectionately as Lil X, was brought into the spotlight during an Oval Office event. The occasion involved Donald Trump signing a crucial executive order aimed at enhancing the Department of Government Efficiency’s influence in the administration. Grimes, a 36-year-old Canadian artist who shares three children with Musk, took to X (Twitter) to address the unexpected circumstances, stating, “He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.”

Her comment was in response to a fellow user’s observation, “Lil X was very polite today! You raised him well. He was so cute when he told DJT ‘please forgive me, I need to pee.’” Prior to this, Grimes shared praise for New York Times journalist Ezra Klein, whom she regarded as a “national treasure” after listening to a podcast that broke down the early days of Trump’s administration and the rise of Maga.

During the controversial event, Lil X was seen imitating his father and interacting with Trump while stationed next to the Resolute desk. Despite these lighthearted moments, the child witnessed Trump endorsing Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) through the signing of an executive order. This order mandates federal agencies to align with the Musk-led department, aiming to cut costs drastically. The signing coincided with Doge’s announcement of canceling contracts worth nearly $1 billion with the US Department of Education.

Grimes, noted for her hit “Genesis,” continues to be vocally active on X, openly sharing her political opinions and condemning Musk’s alleged connections to the alt-right and Nazism. In January, she faced criticism from a user for not opposing Musk’s decision to expose their child to the public domain. She responded with vulnerability, “I have made it clear I do not approve of that in every conceivable way I know I am. I am desperate to solve it. It is a personal tragedy to me. But currently, I don’t know how to do that,” she conveyed on January 10.

Musk had previously taken Lil X to a pre-inauguration victory rally in Washington DC on January 19, where the child was seen energetically bouncing around on stage dressed in a red sweater.
