DALLAS –

Saturday night saw North Texas grappling with fierce storms, but by just before midnight, tornado warnings had been lifted.

The National Weather Service had placed Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Bosque, Cooke, Eastland, Grayson, Jack, Montague, Somervell, Erath, Hamilton, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Comanche, Fannin, Hood, Mills, Parker, and Wise counties under a tornado watch until 7 a.m. Sunday.

Jack County faced a flash flood warning that was active until midnight.

Reports have rolled in about damage from the Saturday night storms. The Granbury Volunteer Fire Department noted that a tornado struck a home southwest of Tolar, an hour’s drive from Fort Worth. Meanwhile, Montague County encountered flooding, leading to several high-water rescues around Nocona and Nocona Hills. Emergency teams reported multiple people stranded in their homes and some even requiring rescue from trees.

Saturday Forecast: Rain

Rain showers and storms are expected to diminish as they move in from the west. Heavy bursts of rain will continue through the morning hours but should subside by midday.

A stalled front to the north and west poses a risk for a few potent storms around 3 to 4 p.m. Despite limited coverage, any developing storm could bring large hail, strong winds, and even a slight tornado risk.

Flood risks remain for areas north and west, with a flood watch in place. Expect a round of strong to severe storms overnight.

Saturday’s high temperatures will peak in the upper 70s, with muggy conditions prevailing.

Easter Sunday Forecast: Early Storms

A cluster of storms is anticipated to cross North Texas early, expected to hit the Metroplex by 3 to 4 a.m. Fortunately, the afternoon will bring sunshine and temperatures in the 70s, perfect for Easter celebrations.

7-Day Forecast

Looking ahead to next week, rain persists in the forecast from Tuesday through at least Friday, maintaining the wet weather trend.
