Actor James Marsden made a surprise appearance at Ego’s, a popular karaoke bar in Austin, on Tuesday night. The 51-year-old actor, famed for his performances in “27 Dresses” (2008) and “The Notebook” (2004), joined a friend onstage, delivering a captivating duet of Billy Joel’s classic “Piano Man” from 1973. Marsden fully embraced the performance, dramatically getting down on one knee, swinging the microphone stand, and miming playing the piano, all while exclaiming, “Let me have a piano!”

Marsden, who bought a house in the Commons Ford area of Austin in 2022, has often spoken of his love for the city. Back in late 2020, he expressed his appreciation for Austin’s “small-town feel” during an appearance on “Live with Kelly and Ryan.”

A video of Marsden’s karaoke performance has started circulating on social media, leaving fans wishing they had been there to witness it live. One enthusiastic user commented, “Omg I wish he did Bennie & the Jets like in 27 Dresses.” Another reminisced about his “Hairspray” (2007) days, exclaiming, “Corny Collins is singing again!!”

Though not captured on video due to a dead phone battery, the TikTok user who posted the clip noted that Marsden and his friend later performed “Shallow,” cover by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.

Currently, the post showcasing Marsden’s performance has garnered 4,593 likes, 159 saves, and 1,078 shares. Fans were thrilled by the unexpected opportunity to see “X-Men’s” Cyclops channel a “A Star is Born” musical moment.
