The underdog horse, Journalism, surged from behind to claim victory at the 150th Preakness Stakes held Saturday at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.

In an exciting race that had no bearing on the Triple Crown, Journalism edged past Gosger. Notably absent from the event was the Kentucky Derby champion, Sovereignty, who is preparing for the Belmont Stakes scheduled for June 7.

Journalism, guided by jockey Umberto Rispoli and trained by Michael McCarthy, entered the esteemed competition against eight other contenders with 6-5 odds.

Claiming the third spot was Sandman.

Saturday marked the final Preakness Stakes at the historic Pimlico venue, as it is set to be demolished and rebuilt. In 2026, the legendary race will make a temporary move to Laurel Park in Maryland, with plans to return to Baltimore in 2027.
