Julio Jones, whose last appearance on the field was in 2023, officially announced his retirement from football on Friday.

“Today marks my official retirement,” Jones expressed in a heartfelt video shared on social media. “My journey began at the age of 8, back when I was just a young kid in Foley, Alabama. It has truly been an extraordinary ride.”

The 36-year-old prominent wide receiver took time to thank key figures like Nick Saban, Matt Ryan, Harry Douglas, Roddy White, and Mike Smith. He also expressed gratitude towards the city of Atlanta in his nearly three-minute video.

Jones enjoyed a stellar 13-season career in the NFL after being drafted by the Falcons as the sixth overall pick in 2011. He spent 10 seasons in Atlanta, before brief stints in Tennessee, Tampa, and Philadelphia. Over his career, Jones amassed 914 receptions for 13,702 yards and scored 66 touchdowns.

Throughout his impressive run, he earned first-team All-Pro honors twice, was selected as a second-team All-Pro three times, and made seven Pro Bowl appearances. Additionally, he was recognized on the 2010s All-Decade Team for his contributions with the Falcons.
