Royal enthusiasts were taken aback when Kate Middleton unexpectedly canceled her appearance at Royal Ascot on June 18. Former royal butler Grant Harrold noted that Prince William would “definitely feel the void” left by Kate. Now, palace insiders are clarifying the princess’s choice to miss the event, while a body language expert has provided insights into Prince William’s solo attendance.

Initially, royal sources indicated that the Princess of Wales was “disappointed” to miss the renowned gathering but emphasized she needed “to balance her ongoing recovery from cancer with a gradual return to her duties.” However, GB News has since clarified that palace insiders acted swiftly to dispel any misunderstandings, asserting that the absence was due to an administrative mishap rather than health issues.

According to GB News, “Royal sources emphasized there was ‘no reason for concern,’ assuring that Kate was following previous guidance on maintaining the right balance in her responsibilities.”

Regarding the mix-up over her attendance, GB News explained, “The mistake occurred when Ascot organizers released the day’s procession lineup at midday, mistakenly listing both the Prince and Princess of Wales in the second carriage behind The King and Queen.” Palace insiders suggested that the Princess of Wales had decided not to attend Royal Ascot well before the public was informed.

Body language expert Judi James offered her analysis of Prince William’s demeanor at Royal Ascot on June 18, telling the Express, “While The King engaged joyfully with their guest in the carriage, exhibiting animated and jovial body language, William appeared more reserved, sitting quietly with a slightly slumped posture, looking contemplative and somewhat downcast without Kate beside him.” According to James, the Prince of Wales seemed “sad and subdued” at the prestigious event.
