The Kentucky Wildcats have made a significant move in the 2025 transfer portal, acquiring Kam Williams, a talented guard from Tulane. Williams revealed his decision to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony Friday morning, expressing his aspirations: “My dream is to play in the NBA,” he said, adding that Kentucky’s culture and history demonstrate their commitment to players’ development into top-tier athletes.
Standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing 190 pounds, Williams originally belonged to the class of 2024 and was ranked 178th nationally by the 247 Sports Composite. As a true freshman at Tulane this season, he mainly occupied the 3 position but also showed versatility by playing the small-ball 4. This adaptability could provide Kentucky with depth across several positions.
During his sole season at Tulane, the 19-year-old Williams averaged 9.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game, boasting an impressive 41.2% shooting accuracy from three-point range on 4.6 attempts per game. In his final appearance of the season during an AAC Tournament defeat to the top-seeded Memphis, Williams scored 17 points on 5 of 7 shooting (including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc), collected eight rebounds, delivered two assists, blocked one shot, and recorded two turnovers over 36 minutes of play. He achieved double-figure scoring in five of his last eight games, highlighted by a 24-point game in a victory against UAB where he excelled with 6 of 8 shooting from three-point range.
Although Williams initially considered entering the NBA Draft, he has chosen to pursue another path. He will join high school recruits Jasper Johnson, Malachi Moreno, and Acaden Lewis as new talents integrating into Kentucky’s roster.
