Marvel Rivals is gearing up to introduce fresh heroes monthly as it shortens its season length, according to an update by creative director Guangyun Chen on Thursday. With the start of season 3, Marvel Rivals will shift to a two-month seasonal format, promising a new hero launch at both the season’s commencement and midpoint. “After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluations, we’ve decided that beginning in season 3, the seasons will move to a two-month format, introducing a new hero each month,” Chen stated. This change will also affect how you earn in-game currency and unlock cosmetics with the battle pass, adjustments that will be detailed before season 3’s early July launch.

This ambitious schedule of hero releases is notably faster than its rival, Overwatch 2, which only releases new heroes approximately every six months, with Freja being their upcoming addition in a few weeks. While Marvel Rivals did manage to introduce all four members of the Fantastic Four during season 1, NetEase Games highlighted that this was a unique situation, and the expected norm will be two heroes per season. Emma Frost is set to join the lineup on April 11 at the onset of season 2, and Ultron will follow with the midseason update in June. The new season will also feature fresh team-up abilities, an option to gift cosmetics to fellow players, popular skin recolors, and an array of balance updates.
