Marvel Studios has commenced filming for “Avengers: Doomsday,” and to mark this heroic milestone, they are hosting a livestream showcasing… chairs. But these aren’t just any old seats—these are the unmistakable director’s chairs decorated with the names of the cast on their backs.
The camera pans across these iconic chairs, revealing a stellar lineup. It includes Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as Thor, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm in the upcoming summer release “Fantastic Four: First Steps,” Anthony Mackie taking up the mantle of Captain America after “Captain America: Brave New World” earlier this year, and Letitia Wright as the new Black Panther. You’ll also see recent Oscar nominee Sebastian Stan returning as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, appearing in “Thunderbolts” this May, alongside Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man. Wyatt Russell is set to step back into his role as John Walker from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” for “Thunderbolts” as well. There’s Tenoch Huerta Mejía, formerly Namor in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”; Ebon Moss-Bachrach stepping in as Ben Grimm, also known as The Thing, for the imminent “Fantastic Four” film; Simu Liu reprising his role from “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”; Florence Pugh continuing her journey as Yelena Belova from “Black Widow”; and Kelsey Grammer making a comeback as Hank McCoy, aka Beast, from the Fox “X-Men” films. Lewis Pullman is gearing up to portray Robert Reynolds, aka Sentry, in “Thunderbolts”; Danny Ramirez returns as Joaquin Torres, now the Falcon; and Joseph Quinn takes on the fiery role of Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, in “Fantastic Four.”
How long will this intriguing livestream continue? What will we discover by its conclusion? There’s only one way to find out—stick around and witness the chairs!
“Avengers: Doomsday” is set to bring back some of Marvel Studios’ heavyweights, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the masterminds behind the legendary “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.” This time, Robert Downey Jr. rejoins them, not as Iron Man but as the formidable Victor von Doom, aka Doctor Doom. (Notice the play on “Doomsday”?) Stephen McFeely, a frequent collaborator with the Russo Brothers and co-writer of their “Avengers” sagas, will also return.
Moreover, Marvel has confirmed a sequel to “Avengers: Doomsday,” titled “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which will once again feature the dynamic duo of the Russos and Downey. This highly anticipated film is slated for release a year after “Doomsday.”
“Avengers: Doomsday” is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, followed by “Avengers: Secret Wars” on May 7, 2027.
