Scattered across vast regions from the Plains to the Southeast, tens of millions are on high alert as forecasts predict a potentially intense outbreak of severe weather. This impending storm system is set to unleash powerful thunderstorms, bringing hurricane-force winds, substantial hail, and the threat of tornadoes.

Currently, fierce storms are surging through Texas and Oklahoma, with the hazardous conditions expected to shift towards the Southeast. The early hours of Tuesday morning saw a spike in power outages coupled with significant damage across several Texan and Oklahoman communities, prompting emergency responses in the affected areas.

At-risk areas are extensive, with over 50 million residents from East Texas stretching into the Southeast facing the brunt of adverse weather conditions today. According to the SPC, a high-alert Level 3 out of 5 has been issued for severe weather, endangering more than 9 million people, including those in major cities like New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport.

Residents in these areas should prepare for severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, destructive winds, and isolated hail as the storm system moves from the eastern portions of the southern Plains into the lower Mississippi Valley and the Southeast.
