The Boston Bruins announced on Tuesday that McAvoy was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital for tests addressing an upper-body injury. This incident occurred during the 4 Nations Face-Off, and McAvoy is currently being assessed by Bruins’ chief team physician, Dr. Peter Asnis.

McAvoy was unable to participate in the U.S. team’s Monday game, which ended in a 2-1 defeat to Sweden at Boston’s TD Garden. Despite this loss, the United States had already secured a spot in the championship clash due to their regulation victory over Finland in the tournament’s opening match and a subsequent win against their Canadian rivals.
