Peter Parker is swinging back onto the big screen with a new adventure titled “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” The fourth installment is scheduled to begin filming this summer, as revealed by director Destin Daniel Cretton during CinemaCon.
Although Tom Holland couldn’t make it to the annual movie theater owners’ gathering in Las Vegas, he sent along a video message to excite fans about the upcoming film.
“I’m really sorry I can’t be there. I’m on the other side of the globe working on another film,” said Holland, who is slated to appear in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” alongside stars like Matt Damon, Zendaya, and Anne Hathaway. “I know we left you with a huge cliffhanger at the end of ‘No Way Home,’ so ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ marks a new beginning. That’s all I’m allowed to share for now.”
As Holland mentioned, the previous film, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” from 2021, concluded with Peter Parker inadvertently opening the multiverse and reluctantly choosing to erase his existence from everyone’s memory. The fourth film, aimed for a July 31, 2026 release, still has its plot under wraps. It seems the creative team is busy piecing together the story.
“I’m deeply engaged in charting the next chapter of this incredible character with an unbelievably talented team,” Cretton teased. “Every day we’re geeking out about the suit, the mechanics of swinging through the city, and how to craft a unique, emotional experience that audiences haven’t seen before.”
Both Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, portraying Peter Parker’s closest friends MJ and Ned, are anticipated to return for this sequel. Sadie Sink has also signed on for the cast, with speculation she might portray the “X-Men” mutant Jean Grey, previously brought to life by actors like Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner. It’s still uncertain which additional Marvel Cinematic Universe characters will be joining Holland and his costars in this film.
