The PlayStation Network gave some gamers a tough time on Friday evening.

By around 6:40 p.m., nearly 70,000 users had reported outages, according to DownDetector.com. The number of affected users dropped to slightly over 15,000 by 10 p.m.

At 8:46 p.m., a PlayStation support account tweeted on X, acknowledging the problems some users were facing with PSN and included a link to the PlayStation website’s status page for updates.

Earlier, at 7 p.m., PlayStation issued an alert saying: “You might have difficulty signing in or creating an account for PlayStation Network. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”

The PlayStation status page indicated disruptions affecting:

  • Account management
  • Gaming and social interactions
  • PlayStation Video
  • PlayStation Store
  • PlayStation Direct

The company had yet to announce when all services would be fully operational again.

In response to the outages, some PlayStation fans turned to social media to vent their frustrations about not being able to enjoy their beloved online games.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing situation.
