Scopely is set to transform the mobile gaming scene with its acquisition of Niantic’s gaming division for a staggering $3.5 billion, introducing renowned franchises such as Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now into its collection.

Known for developing popular mobile titles like Monopoly Go!, Star Trek Fleet Command, and Marvel Strike Force, Scopely is now adding Niantic’s thriving gaming portfolio, highlighted by the massively popular Pokémon Go.

The acquisition includes not only the games but also Niantic’s innovative companion apps and services, Campfire and Wayfarer. According to both companies, Niantic’s gaming sector enjoys over 30 million monthly active users and achieved revenues exceeding $1 billion in 2024.

Undoubtedly, Pokémon Go is the crown jewel of this merger. As one of the most widely played mobile games ever, it boasts over 20 million weekly active users. Scopely plans to continue Niantic’s tradition of expanding the game with live events.

“Niantic games have consistently connected people and sparked curiosity,” expressed Hanke. “I trust they’ll maintain these qualities under Scopely’s banner. Scopely’s dedication to exceptional live services, adeptness with major global brands, and deep commitment to its gaming communities and development teams align perfectly with our values. I am thoroughly convinced that this alliance benefits our players and ensures our games receive the enduring support and investment needed to evolve as ‘forever games’ cherished by future generations.”
