CLEVELAND — For the second consecutive day, powerful storms swept across much of Northeast Ohio on Friday afternoon.

At the storm’s peak, sections of 11 counties in the region were placed under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.

As we brace for the storm’s full impact, the National Weather Service continues to enforce a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for several counties in the area:

  • Ashtabula
  • Geauga
  • Lake
  • Portage
  • Stark
  • Trumbull

“Our initial bout of rainfall today will arise from sporadic showers and storms,” 3News Senior Meteorologist Matt Wintz explained. “We’ll start off without rain, but as temperatures climb, expect storms to appear on the radar, similar to yesterday. While the severe threat isn’t as significant as yesterday’s, we should be vigilant for a few intense storms, especially towards the south. With some help from the sun, temps will rise into the 70s.”

Thinking about the weekend? Wintz advises keeping an umbrella close by!

“Rain will come in waves as a low-pressure system swirls right over northern Ohio. Temperatures will drop noticeably on Saturday, likely staying in the 50s throughout the day. Sunday will continue to be rainy as the low remains active. Rain is expected to persist into Monday and Tuesday before we start seeing clear skies by Wednesday,” he concluded.
