“Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” the highly anticipated third installment of Sony’s animated web-slinging saga, is set to captivate audiences in theaters on June 4, 2027. This thrilling finale is much awaited by fans who have followed the series since its inception.

Producer Phil Lord, along with co-directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, emphasized the importance of perfecting the film at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where industry insiders eagerly gathered. “We couldn’t rush this project; it means too much to us and our fans,” they stated. “We’re ensuring we take the necessary time to make it exceptional.”

Lord joyfully assured that this finale will be a grand climax to the beloved trilogy.

To back up this promise, the team unveiled a sneak peek of “Beyond the Spider-Verse”—the epic closure to the storyline initiated with 2018’s “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” and carried forward in 2023’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the masterminds behind the franchise, are returning to co-write the screenplay.

The original “Into the Spider-Verse” broke new ground as one of cinema’s pioneering dives into the multiverse, an idea that later exploded in popularity with hits like “Avengers: Endgame,” “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” and “Deadpool & Wolverine.” In this opening chapter, Brooklyn teenager Miles Morales becomes Spider-Man, discovering that “anyone can wear the mask” while joining Spider-People from various universes to safeguard New York City. The sequel sees Miles embarking on a multiverse adventure with Gwen Stacy, aka Spider-Woman, only to face another looming danger. While specifics about the third film remain under wraps, it’s expected that Miles will confront an existential crisis.

At CinemaCon, Lord teased that Miles Morales will begin “Beyond the Spider-Verse” as a fugitive, pursued by all other Spider-People across multiple universes. “Gwen and his companions might not be enough to help him protect the core family that’s been central to everything,” he suggested.

The showcased footage, highlighting the series’ unique and daring animation style, features Miles declaring his intent to chart his own path, amidst others’ attempts to dictate his story. Fans got a glimpse of Gwen Stacy and more Spidey allies in the brief, not-yet-public teaser.

The “Spider-Verse” films have proven to be substantial box office successes: the original earned $384 million globally and clinched the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, while the sequel amassed an impressive $690 million. Phil Lord emphasized to cinema owners, “Beyond the Spider-Verse” is crafted for grand-scale viewing, declaring, “This movie is designed for your expansive screens. It looks incredible.”
