Stephen Curry has made history as the first player ever to achieve 4,000 career 3-pointers. The Golden State Warriors star reached this impressive milestone during a game against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night. Entering the match, Curry needed just two 3-pointers to hit the magic number. He reached this remarkable feat by sinking a 3-pointer with 8:19 remaining in the third quarter. The significant shot came from the right wing under tight defense, off a pass by Moses Moody on his fourth attempt of the evening. Fans erupted in applause, and the arena celebrated with a tribute onscreen during the next timeout. “It’s a clear milestone threshold,” Curry shared with ESPN prior to the game. “It wasn’t something I considered reachable, especially from 2,974, which was the record back then.”

Curry concluded the game with 11 points, five assists, and his two notable 3-pointers. He initially broke Ray Allen’s former record of 2,973 career 3-pointers at Madison Square Garden on December 14, 2021. Now in his 16th season, Curry’s feats are awe-inspiring. “It’s just such an unbelievable number,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr remarked to ESPN. “It’s tough to wrap your head around it, and who knows, maybe it will be surpassed one day. But it’s more than just the numbers. It’s his fluidity and the poise he brings to the court. Yes, there’s boldness in taking some of those Curry shots, yet there’s also a depth of emotion and beauty. It’s captivating. Watching his movements on the court is like observing a ballet. You’re not just witnessing sports; you’re experiencing art.”

While the future of Curry’s record remains uncertain, he remains determined to push his limits. Currently, LA Clippers’ James Harden is second with 3,120 career 3-pointers. “I’m not exactly sure how much further I can go,” Curry admitted to ESPN. “But I’ll keep striving to push the boundaries. This record highlights how the game has evolved, and I’m grateful to have been a part of that transformation.”

Curry holds multiple 3-point records, including the two longest streaks for consecutive regular-season games with at least one successful 3-pointer. These streaks stand at 268 games and 157 games respectively.
