Sean King, a celebrated former West Coast Eagles and West Perth player, has sadly passed away at the age of 60 after a brief illness. The original Eagle, who had been fighting cancer, died on Wednesday. Just days before, West Perth had honored King by awarding him life membership, recognizing his contributions to the club. Since his passing, heartfelt tributes have been flooding in. On Thursday, the Eagles expressed their sorrow, stating, “The West Coast Eagles are deeply saddened by the passing of inaugural squad member Sean King on Wednesday after a short illness. The Club extends its sincerest condolences to King’s family, friends, and loved ones.”
King’s football journey began with West Perth in 1986, where he made an impactful impression by playing 60 matches and scoring 48 goals. That same year, the West Coast Eagles were established, though they officially joined the VFL in 1987. King was among the chosen few to play for the club as part of their pioneering squad that debuted in 1987.
