Walmart Faces Temporary Online Store Glitches Amid Recent Outages

Just a day after major outages affected Spotify and Zoom, Walmart’s online store in the U.S. encountered some technical bumps. Although not a full-scale blackout, these glitches made it hard for users to view products and finalize purchases.

Currently, it seems the search feature is back up and running. Initially, I could load Walmart’s homepage and category pages just fine. However, when attempting to search for items, like a Nintendo Switch 2 preorder, AirPods Pro, or Lego sets, I was greeted with a “Sorry…” message.

I wasn’t the only one observing these challenges, as Down Detector—a site for tracking outages—reported more than 3,250 disruptions for Walmart by 3:12 PM ET.

We’re continuously testing the platform for product searches, and TechRadar has contacted Walmart to understand the situation better. We’ll update if we receive a response, but for now, stay informed with our live blog monitoring Walmart’s ongoing website issues.

Update

Things are looking brighter for Walmart as Down Detector notes a sharp decline in reported issues, now down to just 489 by 4:51 PM ET. The website’s functionality—search, add to cart, and checkout—seems to be fully restored.

Are we returning to normal?

It seems the worst may be over, as Walmart’s website is operational again for both searching and adding products to the cart. Less than 20 minutes ago, searching for “ipad” was problematic, but now it’s functioning smoothly. Searches for “macbook air” and “apple juice” are also yielding results.

Down Detector reports have now dipped to a mere 1,157 by 4:31 PM ET, indicating Walmart’s systems are stabilizing and ready for regular usage.

We’ll keep monitoring Walmart’s site and app for any additional hiccups.

Walmart’s online platform seems to be gradually coming back to life. After a series of successful searches, the functionality has become somewhat unpredictable again.

However, category pages remain accessible, indicating that Walmart’s team is actively working to identify and resolve the website’s issues.

Down Detector’s reports have decreased, now at 2,505 by 4:07 PM ET.

Good news for those shopping at Walmart— the search function is operational again, allowing users to click on products and add them to their carts. Department pages like Electronics and Fashion are also accessible once more.

If you’re still facing issues with Walmart’s online shopping, it might be worth trying again.

With over 3,160 outages still noted on Down Detector, users have flocked to X (formerly Twitter) and Threads to express issues with the site’s loading and functionality. Meanwhile, Walmart has yet to release an official statement on the matter.

According to reports on Down Detector, the accessibility problems with Walmart’s online site are manifesting across various parts of the United States.

Here’s a glimpse of the error message you might receive when attempting to click on a category or featured product. If you’re facing this issue, rest assured you’re not alone.

Apart from search functionality problems, users are experiencing trouble loading sections like Electronics, Home, or Grocery, along with highlighted items on the homepage.

Similar to the ‘Dogs of Amazon’ error, Walmart displays a “Sorry” or “Uh-oh” message accompanied by a random image.

Reports of disruptions on Down Detector are tallying over 3,600 since 3:17 PM ET and still climbing.

As expected, these online hiccups with Walmart’s website are similarly impacting the retailer’s Android and iOS apps.

Typical of outages, users are turning to X (formerly Twitter) and Threads to share their experiences.

Here’s what I encountered when trying to search for AirPods: a “Sorry…” message alongside a random graphic—in this case, a toaster—with the caption, “We’re having technical issues, but we’ll be back in a flash.”
