Shoppers faced frustration as they took to Down Detector, a popular site for reporting outages, to voice issues with Walmart. As one of the leading retailers both online and offline in the U.S., Walmart’s disruption impacted many. Fortunately, the issue is being resolved, with reports on Down Detector decreasing after peaking three hours prior. As of 6:45 p.m. today (April 17), the situation appears to be improving.
At the height of the problem, the Walmart website loaded for most users. However, customers encountered issues such as being unable to add products to their carts, or they experienced errors while trying to access certain pages. This outage kicked off shortly after 3:00 p.m., and although it still persists without full resolution, signs indicate an improvement. Interestingly, the majority of the reports originated from cities in the southern U.S., though the cause remains uncertain. While the problem expanded more broadly during the outage, it seems to be subsiding now. Nonetheless, some shoppers continue experiencing delays in receiving order confirmations.
