MINNEAPOLIS – The Golden State Warriors are gearing up for Game 2 of their playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, likely without their superstar guard Stephen Curry. Curry left the opening game on Tuesday night due to a left hamstring strain which could sideline him.

Following the Warriors’ 99-88 victory in Game 1, their coach, Steve Kerr, announced that Curry’s status is day-to-day and an MRI is scheduled for Wednesday. “Considering the complexities of hamstring injuries,” Kerr remarked, “we’re preparing as though he won’t be available on Thursday.” He emphasized, “We can’t confirm yet… we need to discuss how to generate offense in Steph’s absence.”

Curry’s misfortune struck during a drive, where he scored with a 13-foot floater with 8:20 remaining in the second quarter. He clutched his leg afterward, signaling to the bench but stayed in the game for another 29 seconds until play halted.

After leaving the court, Curry immediately headed to the locker room. Later in the second quarter, the team confirmed he wouldn’t return. By that point, Curry had scored 13 points, contributing to the Warriors’ 30-20 lead, but left with a noticeable limp after the game.

Curry’s potential absence beyond Game 1 would be a significant setback for Golden State, as he has been instrumental, averaging 24 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists during their seven-game first-round triumph over the Houston Rockets.

The series against Minnesota in the Western Conference semifinals has just a single day of rest between each of the first five games. However, if the series extends, there will be a three-day break between Games 5 and 6.

At 37, Curry is already contending with an injured shooting thumb, adding to his challenges.
