Residents of Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Waukesha Counties should be on high alert as a Flash Flood Warning remains active until 11:45 a.m. Additionally, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is now in effect for Racine, Milwaukee, and Waukesha Counties until 9:15 a.m.
For a broader area including Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington, and Waukesha Counties, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued and will remain until 11 a.m. on Friday.
We are currently monitoring a wave of thunderstorms advancing from the west this morning. These systems promise to bring rain and electrical activity to southern Wisconsin but are expected to clear after 10 a.m.
These weather systems have previously been classified as strong to severe. The more intense storm cells may produce significant hail, alongside the risk of strong winds, particularly with any forming storm lines.
Storm Team 4’s Morning Update for Friday, April 18
Due to the storms lingering longer into the morning, today’s temperatures are expected to be lower. Many areas will see temperatures in the 60s, although the south of I-94 may breach the 70s. Should the skies clear, temperatures could increase further but may also lead to evening storm redevelopment. If the storms do reignite later today, they too pose the threat of severe weather as a cold front moves in.
Looking ahead to the weekend, cooler temperatures are forecasted, with Saturday’s highs only reaching the lower 50s. Expect some high clouds partially obscuring the sun due to a stationary front to the south.
Easter Sunday will begin dry, but the likelihood of rain will pick up into the afternoon. An incoming low-pressure system will bring rain from Sunday night through into Monday morning.
