Reddit and X users faced significant service interruptions on Thursday afternoon, with both platforms becoming intermittently inaccessible, according to Downdetector data. Around 3 p.m. ET, reports of these issues surged as thousands of users turned to Downdetector, a platform that monitors and reports on real-time website and service outages.
At the height of the disruptions, over 30,000 users reported difficulties with Reddit, whereas more than 15,000 users highlighted problems with X. Reddit users encountered troubles when loading posts, logging in, and accessing subreddits. Meanwhile, X users experienced challenges including timeline issues, posting failures, and difficulties with direct messaging. The reasons behind these outages have not yet been identified.
Both companies have yet to clarify whether these outages were connected or merely coincidental. The Post has reached out to the companies for comments.
These recent interruptions are part of a pattern of tech service issues affecting major platforms, sparking increased concern about the stability of the infrastructure that millions rely on daily for communication and content.
