A 5.1-magnitude earthquake rocked Iran on Friday evening, as reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake occurred at 9:19 p.m. local time, approximately 22 miles southwest of Semnan, Iran, according to data from the agency.
Seismologists are analyzing all available information, which could lead to an adjustment in the earthquake’s reported magnitude. The collection of further data might also result in updates to the shake-severity map by USGS scientists.
