Adrian Peterson, a former Minnesota Vikings star, found himself behind bars on Friday morning in Hennepin County. The legendary running back, now 40 years old, was detained by the State Patrol at approximately 5:15 a.m., facing a misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree driving while impaired, according to county jail records.
Peterson’s arrest followed the Vikings’ draft party on Thursday night, held at the U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis. He had been a guest on KFAN Radio, the official radio station of the team, just before his arrest. The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking additional information from the patrol regarding whether his impairment was due to drugs or alcohol.
Having been a key player for the Vikings from 2007 to 2016, Peterson eventually played for various teams before concluding his career in 2021 with a single game for the Seattle Seahawks. Over his career, he achieved a remarkable total of 14,918 rushing yards, ranking him fifth in National Football League history.
