Former NFL star Adrian Peterson was taken into custody on Friday morning in Minnesota, facing charges for fourth-degree driving while impaired. This information is based on online records from the Hennepin County sheriff’s office. Peterson had attended the Minnesota Vikings’ public draft event at U.S. Bank Stadium the night before. Authorities detained him at 5:16 a.m. CT and he was released shortly after, at 7:31 a.m. CT, after posting a $4,000 bond.

The driving while impaired charge is categorized as a misdemeanor. Peterson’s court hearing is set for May 9 in Minneapolis.

Peterson underwent a preliminary breathalyzer test revealing his blood alcohol level to be 0.14%, surpassing Minnesota’s legal limit of 0.08%.

This arrest adds to a string of incidents involving Peterson over the years, including cases of domestic violence, child abuse, and financial woes. His NFL journey has taken him through teams like the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks, with his career concluding during the 2021 season.

Peterson’s impressive career boasts a total of 14,918 rushing yards, placing him fifth in NFL history for this achievement.
