Rockstar Games has announced that the much-awaited release of Grand Theft Auto VI will now be postponed to May 26, 2026. Initially slated for a fall 2025 launch, the developers have decided to extend the timeline to ensure they deliver the high level of quality that fans expect. According to a statement on Rockstar’s website, the team expressed regret over the delay, saying, “We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game. With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve. We look forward to sharing more information with you soon.”
The first trailer for GTA VI was showcased in December 2023, but since then, details about the game have been scarce, apart from the revised release date now set for next year. The upcoming installment in the Grand Theft Auto series will take players to Vice City and introduce them to Lucia, the franchise’s first female lead character. The game will also include elements inspired by the Bonnie and Clyde narrative.
