Former Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III made a notable appearance at a Hope for Prisoners event in Las Vegas Tuesday night. Recently granted special release from prison, Ruggs took this opportunity to express his regret over a tragic car accident that occurred nearly four years ago, which claimed the life of a woman named Tina Tintor and her dog, Max.

Back on November 2, 2021, Ruggs was recklessly speeding in a sports car, reaching up to 156 mph, when he collided with another vehicle. The devastating impact resulted in the death of 23-year-old Tintor. During the event, those present asked what Ruggs wished to convey to Tintor’s family. “I deeply wish I could turn back the hands of time,” he confessed in a video captured by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “I want them to know the real Henry Ruggs, not the one who was trying to escape something.” He earnestly apologized, acknowledging not only his involvement in the tragedy but also the ongoing media presence that continually reminds the family of the heartbreaking event.

Ruggs, who was once a promising first-round draft pick, confessed in May 2023 to a felony charge of DUI causing death, alongside a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter. Consequently, in August 2023, he received a sentence ranging from three to ten years in prison.
