Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic faced a challenging moment during Game 5 on Wednesday night. Nearing the end of the second quarter, Doncic was forced into the locker room in visible discomfort after a brutal collision with Minnesota’s Donte DiVincenzo and Rudy Gobert. The incident occurred as Doncic drove to the basket with just over a minute left in the quarter, resulting in DiVincenzo being called for a foul. Despite the pain, Doncic managed to rise and successfully sank both free throws. The Lakers swiftly fouled following this to substitute out Doncic, allowing medical staff to evaluate him in the locker room.

With a back brace to support him, Doncic returned for the start of the third quarter. Though his movements were evidently restricted, he persevered, playing through the majority of the remaining game time. This season has been challenging for Doncic, who missed 32 regular-season games primarily due to knee and calf issues. Unfortunately for the Lakers, the Timberwolves emerged victorious with a final score of 103-96, clinching the series 4-1. Despite the loss, Doncic showcased his remarkable talent with 28 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists.
