Staying true to their strategy, the Seattle Seahawks opted not to trade down on the first day of the 2025 NFL Draft, choosing to retain their No. 18 pick. Any concerns that the team might overlook their offensive line were dispelled when they selected North Dakota State’s Grey Zabel. Designated as a guard, Zabel is Seattle’s highest-drafted guard since Steve Hutchinson in 2001—a player who turned out to be quite a success story, despite the “Poison Pill” contract saga that followed.

Meanwhile, Green Bay experienced a relatively quiet evening with just four trades unfolding. Notably, the Jacksonville Jaguars managed to snap up Travis Hunter at the No. 2 spot, and the Los Angeles Rams secured an extra first-round pick for 2026 from the Atlanta Falcons—a strategic move on both sides.

Quarterbacks saw limited activity, with only two chosen in the first round. Cam Ward was expectedly the No. 1 overall pick by the Tennessee Titans. However, the New York Giants made a surprising move by trading back into the first round to claim Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart at pick No. 25. This leaves Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders still waiting for his moment in the spotlight.

Finally, Ashton Jeanty found his new home with the Las Vegas Raiders. As for Pete Carroll, we all know and appreciate his unwavering approach: stay the same, Pete, stay the same.
