Tesla has unveiled its most affordable version of the Model Y yet—the Long Range Rear-Wheel-Drive configuration.
The company has now introduced the economical Long Range Rear-Wheel-Drive Model Y in various markets, marking its cheapest trim yet.
Following the initial release of the new Model Y earlier this year, which featured the ‘Launch Series’ edition, Tesla subsequently made the Long Range All-Wheel-Drive available weeks afterwards.
Now, the latest offering is the third trim level, priced at $44,990 before accounting for federal tax credits or local incentives:
With federal tax credits, the price drops to $37,490.
This version boasts a range of 357 miles, a top speed of 125 MPH, and accelerates from 0 to 60 MPH in 5.4 seconds. In comparison, the Long Range All-Wheel-Drive variant offers a range of 327 miles with the same top speed but accelerates to 60 MPH in a swifter 4.6 seconds.
Recognizing demand for Rear-Wheel-Drive options, Tesla also introduced a similar powertrain in the Cybertruck, although it features fewer premium materials and omits certain features like a power tonneau.
According to the design studio, expect deliveries in 3 to 5 weeks and possibly these models appearing at Gigafactory Texas in the coming week.
Tesla has enhanced the new Model Y compared to the previous version, twice the world’s top-selling car. Improvements include better cabin noise reduction through acoustic glass, which enhances the cabin experience.
Moreover, the interior redesign brings a touch of luxury with features such as heated and cooled seats throughout. Tesla’s attention to detail extends to reducing noise from closing doors, offering an overall elevated driving experience.
