Tigres Climb to the Top of the Leagues Cup 2025

With a thrilling 2-1 victory over San Diego FC, the Tigres have risen to the top of the Leagues Cup 2025 standings. The hero of the match was Ángel Correa, who netted both goals for the Mexican squad at the Snapdragon Stadium.

From the very start, Tigres aimed to seize the advantage against a well-organized MLS team. Nevertheless, it was Correa who broke the deadlock, putting his team ahead in the 31st minute with a skillful follow-up shot. San Diego FC, unwilling to concede defeat quietly, fought back and equalized through Tomás Ángel in the 54th minute. But it was Correa again who stole the spotlight, adding his second goal in the 67th minute to secure the win for Tigres.

Ángel Correa now boasts four goals in just two Leagues Cup matches. Despite the introduction of Mexican star Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano by San Diego in the 61st minute, the team couldn’t turn the tide. Next, Tigres is set to face LAFC as the competition heats up.
