U.S. Representative Shri Thanedar has taken a bold step by filing articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump this past Monday.

In his statement, Rep. Thanedar, who serves Michigan’s 13th Congressional District, leveled serious accusations against President Trump, citing a “broad abuse of power, blatant constitutional violations, and tyrannical actions that weaken American democracy and threaten the rule of law.”

This move occurs just a day before President Trump is slated to host a rally in Macomb County, commemorating his initial 100 days in office.

“Donald Trump has shown time and again his unsuitability for the presidency, posing a clear and immediate threat to our nation’s constitution and democratic principles,” declared Rep. Thanedar. “His illegal conduct has undermined the judicial system, breached the separation of powers, and prioritized personal power and self-interest instead of public welfare. Further inaction is not an option. Congress must take decisive steps.”

In his resolution, Rep. Thanedar outlined seven articles of impeachment:

  1. Obstruction of Justice and Executive Power Misuse: Involves denial of due process, illegal deportations, defying court orders, and misusing the Department of Justice.
  2. Misappropriation of Congressional Funds: Concerns dismantling of agencies created by Congress and obstruction of federal funds.
  3. Abuse of Trade Powers and International Threats: Pertains to economically harmful tariffs and military invasion threats against other nations.
  4. First Amendment Rights Violations: Includes retaliatory actions against critics, the media, and attorneys venturing into constitutionally protected speech.
  5. Illegitimate Office Creation: Refers to the formation of the Department of Government Efficiency (“DOGE”) and unwarranted empowerment of Elon Musk to override the Constitution.
  6. Bribery and Corruption: Relates to dismissing criminal cases, seeking foreign favors, and extortionate settlements for personal and political objectives.
  7. Tyrannical Overreach: Involves attempting to amass unchecked authority, infringe upon civil liberties, and disregard constitutional restraints on presidential power.

The following step in the impeachment process is an examination by the House Judiciary Committee.
