US stocks took a downward turn on Tuesday as optimism for a swift resolution to the Israel-Iran conflict waned. This came after President Trump intensified his rhetoric against Iran, demanding an “unconditional surrender.” In a statement on Truth Social, Trump mentioned the US is aware of the Iranian leader’s whereabouts, adding, “He is an easy target, but is safe there — We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. However, we don’t want missiles targeting civilians or American soldiers. Our patience is growing thin.” Following this declaration, stock losses accelerated.

By the end of the trading day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped approximately 0.7%, or about 300 points. The S&P 500, a key market indicator, fell by over 0.8%, while the Nasdaq Composite, dominated by technology stocks, slid by more than 0.9%.
