Liftoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time today, March 3.

Today marks another thrilling chapter in space exploration as SpaceX gears up for the eighth test flight of its colossal Starship rocket, and you can catch all the excitement live. Starship, recognized as the largest and most powerful rocket ever created, is slated to blast off from SpaceX’s Starbase facility in South Texas during a window starting at 6:30 p.m. EST (2330 GMT; 5:30 p.m. local Texas time). You can watch the launch action live right here on Space.com, courtesy of SpaceX, or directly through their platform. Make sure to tune in for the coverage which kicks off around 40 minutes before the anticipated liftoff.

Should everything proceed smoothly today, the Super Heavy booster is expected to journey back to Starbase, where the launch tower’s unique “chopstick” arms will catch it approximately seven minutes post-liftoff. Meanwhile, Starship’s upper stage will release four mock versions of SpaceX’s Starlink broadband satellites on a suborbital path, concluding with a splashdown in the Indian Ocean near Western Australia about 66 minutes after the launch.
