Tom Morello, John Fogerty, Emmylou Harris, Joe Ely, and Smokey Robinson were celebrated this past weekend at the third annual American Music Honors. The event took place at Monmouth University in Long Branch, New Jersey and was organized by the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music.

Bruce Springsteen was present, exuding enthusiasm as he hosted the evening. He delivered stirring, heartfelt induction speeches and joined the honorees on stage, playing his Fender Telecaster during several performances throughout the night.

The event acknowledges artists for their contributions to American music. This year’s lineup showcased a diverse range of musical styles, from Robinson’s smooth Motown pop to Ely’s rugged Texas sound, Harris’s distinctive golden vocals, and Fogerty’s relatable lyrics and musical creativity.

However, it was Morello’s electrifying performance on Springsteen’s “The Ghost of Tom Joad,” a song inspired by Woody Guthrie, that truly stunned the packed audience.
