Katy Perry, the renowned pop sensation known for hits like “Firework” and “Roar,” is preparing to make waves in a new arena—as the latest celebrity poised for a voyage into space. Her adventure is officially set to begin, as she’s scheduled to take flight on the morning of April 14. Accompanying her on this interstellar journey will be Gayle King, a journalist from “CBS Mornings.” The duo will board the New Shepard spacecraft operated by Blue Origin, heading skyward from Launch Site One in West Texas around 9:30 a.m. ET.
Fans eager to witness this historic launch can tune into USA Today’s livestream for live coverage, while Blue Origin’s streaming will kick off on X at 8 a.m. ET. Paramount+ will also provide special coverage beginning at 7 a.m. ET during “CBS Mornings,” leading into a dedicated segment at 9 a.m. ET titled “Gayle Goes to Space.”
During their brief sojourn to the 62-mile-high mark—known as the edge of space—Perry and King will enjoy a fleeting experience of weightlessness. Perry expressed her longstanding fascination with astrophysics, astronomy, astrology, and the cosmos, which fuels her enthusiasm for this journey. Joining them on this groundbreaking flight will be four other women, including Lauren Sánchez, the fiancée of Blue Origin’s founder, Jeff Bezos.
