Meta has put an end to the swirling rumors by officially unveiling its newest high-tech eyewear collaboration with Oakley. Offering twice the battery endurance of the Meta Ray-Bans, these smart glasses capture stunning 3K videos. Modeled after Oakley’s HSTN design—pronounced “how-stuhn”—these glasses are marketed as Meta’s “premier product for both athletes and enthusiasts.”
The exclusive Oakley Meta HSTN edition, featuring eye-catching gold details, comes with a price tag of $499 and will be available for preorder starting July 11th. Meanwhile, the broader range will debut later this summer, starting at $399, according to Meta.
Equipped with a front-facing camera, open-ear speakers, and microphones, these glasses allow users to enjoy music, snap photos, and handle calls—hands-free.
The glasses integrate Meta AI, enabling users to interact via voice commands. Whether asking, “Hey Meta, how strong is the wind today?” or “Hey Meta, record a video,” users have capabilities right at their spoken request. Additionally, Meta AI can describe surroundings or translate languages on the spot.
With the capability to function for up to eight hours per typical use and offering a 19-hour standby duration, these glasses can recharge to 50% in just 20 minutes. They come with a charging case that provides up to 48 hours of additional charge while on the move.
The collection offers six stylish frame and lens combinations: warm gray with ruby lenses, black with polar black, brown smoke with polar deep water, black with amethyst, clear with gray, and black with clear. All models can be tailored with prescription lenses for an added charge. Some varieties feature Oakley Prizm Lens technology, ensuring optimal visibility in diverse lighting and weather conditions, enhancing performance, as Meta highlights.
Residents of the US, Canada, the UK, and a range of European and Nordic countries, as well as Australia, will soon have access to Oakley Meta HSTN glasses. Launches are set for Mexico, India, and the UAE later this year.
Meta describes these new glasses as a pivotal advancement in their ongoing collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, the overarching company behind Oakley and Ray-Bans. To date, the Meta Ray-Bans alone have seen sales exceeding two million pairs, according to EssilorLuxottica’s financial records for FY2024.
