Peacock has decided to cancel a number of its shows before the commencement of the 2025-2026 broadcasting season.

Among the canceled series are “Based on a True Story,” “Mr. Throwback,” “Teacup,” and “Hysteria!” All these shows have been axed ahead of the 2025-2026 season.

“Based on a True Story,” which made its debut in 2023 and had a two-season run, featured Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina as husband and wife Ava and Nathan Bartlett. In the first season, this duo teams up with a serial killer to kickstart a true crime podcast. The second season wrapped up with a cliffhanger, leaving audiences wondering about the unresolved plots of the abruptly-ended series.

The remaining shows, “Mr. Throwback,” “Teacup,” and “Hysteria!,” had even less time in the limelight, each running for just one season.

“Mr. Throwback” featured Adam Pally, Ego Nwodim, Ayden Mayeri, and Stephen Curry playing himself. This mockumentary-style series revolves around Danny Grossman (Pally), a sports memorabilia trader embroiled in new-found troubles with the Polish mafia. To pay off his debts, he turns to reconnect with his former basketball teammate, NBA legend Curry.

“Teacup” stems from the horror genre, inspired by Robert R. McCammon’s novel “Stinger.” Starring Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, Chaske Spencer, Kathy Baker, Diany Rodriguez, and Boris McGiver, the narrative unfolds at a solitary ranch in Georgia where the residents face an enigmatic threat.

“Hysteria!” offers a mix of horror and comedy, set against the backdrop of the satanic panic of the 1980s. When a star high school football player mysteriously disappears in a Detroit suburb, the community suspects occult activities and targets members of a heavy metal band, Dethkrunch.

The cast includes Emjay Anthony (Dylan Campbell), Chiara Aurelia (Jordy Stanwyck), Kezii Curtis (Spud), Nikki Hahn (Faith Whitehead), Bruce Campbell (Ben Dandridge), Anna Camp (Tracy Whitehead), and Julie Bowen (Linda Campbell).

While Peacock is known for keeping its viewership numbers close to the chest, it remains unclear if low ratings played a role in the decisions to cancel these four series.
