The Milwaukee Brewers, boasting one of baseball’s most formidable lineups, will seek to maintain their winning momentum on Monday as they face off against the Atlanta Braves in the first matchup of a three-game series. With victories in six of their last seven contests, Milwaukee stands proudly atop Major League Baseball with a 67-44 record.

During their recent domination of the Washington Nationals, the Brewers scored a stunning 38 runs while conceding only 14, setting a new team record with 56 hits over three games. Brice Turang shone with two home runs and four RBIs on Sunday, complemented by Christian Yelich’s remarkable 7-for-13 performance, contributing four RBIs.

Currently tied for second in MLB’s batting averages at .257 and fifth in runs scored with 555, the Brewers are a force at the plate.

Pitcher Quinn Priester, sporting a 10-2 record and a 3.27 ERA, will make his 21st game appearance and 16th start for Milwaukee on Monday. The 24-year-old phenom has been unbeaten in July, holding a 4-0 record with a 3.07 ERA, not having lost a game since May 13 in Cleveland.

“That young man has improved tremendously,” praised Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy of Priester. “He’s impressive, with all the grit, confidence, and determination you could ask for.”

Priester’s last outing saw him allow just two runs over 5 2/3 innings, steering his team to a 9-3 triumph against the Chicago Cubs. With a 1-0 record and a 4.50 ERA in two previous starts against the Braves, he impressively pitched six innings conceding only one run during a 4-1 victory over Atlanta on June 10.

Meanwhile, the Braves, enduring a tough season, come into Monday after a rare series win. They bested the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 on Sunday in the Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway, marking their first series triumph since July 11-13. After a challenging four-city road trip where they managed only three wins from nine games, the Braves return home to Truist Park for the first time since July 23.

Hampered by injuries to all five of their season-opening starting pitchers, the Braves suffered another setback when star right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr. was placed on the 15-day injured list with a calf strain. Acuna, freshly returned from an ACL tear in May 2024, boasts a .306 batting average, with 14 homers and 26 RBIs.

Eli White has stepped up to bridge the gap, delivering impressively on Sunday with two home runs and four RBIs, leading the Braves to their first Sunday win since May 18.

In keeping with their injury narrative, third baseman Austin Riley exited Sunday’s game after a superb dive play, replaced by Luke Williams, who later demonstrated his prowess with a crucial run-saving stop.

“Seeing Eli excel is a great feeling,” said Braves manager Brian Snitker. “And when Luke pulled off that incredible play in the eighth, it was uplifting. You always root for the good guys, and they don’t come any better than those two. Regarding Riley, we’ll have to assess him further for any potential need for the IL.”

Veteran right-hander Erick Fedde, making his second start in a Braves jersey, is eager to secure his first victory since May 9. Having been let go by the St. Louis Cardinals and traded for cash, the 32-year-old conceded four runs in 4 2/3 innings during his Braves debut last Tuesday in a 9-6 defeat to Kansas City.

Fedde holds a 2-4 record and a 5.77 ERA over eight career games (seven starts) against Milwaukee, including two losses this season, the most recent being a 5 1/3 innings stint that allowed three runs resulting in a 3-2 loss on June 13.
